Being descriptive in a post makes everything so much more interesting during the RP! Take a look at this sentence:
The dog ran down the street. Now, this must sound fine to you, and if it does, that is why you are in this level! Let's take a deeper look at what a descriptive word is:"An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun by describing, identifying, or quantifying words. An adjective usually precedes the noun or the pronoun which it modifies.Basically in English, this definition states that an ADJECTIVE is a word that describes another word. It makes the word have more depth and meaning when read.
Now, lets try and figure out where the adjective IS in a sentence.
Look at this sentence:
"The grandma placed the fresh bread on the counter."FRESH is the adjective because it describes the appearance of the bread. You can also tell an adjective if when you take it out of the sentence, the sentence still makes sense:
"The grandma placed the bread on the counter."But that doesn't make the bread sound so enticing anymore, does it? That is why adjectives are so important! By adding a few words to DESCRIBE another word/noun, you make your posts more interesting and involved!
Let's take a look at that starting sentence again:\
The dog ran down the street.UGH. So boooooooooring! Let's take a moment to think about all the possible words to describe the DOG:
-
Example: Your dog just took a bath and is now _____ ...Clean!
The CLEAN dog ran down the street.-
Example: Your dog just ran through the mud puddles and is now ____ ...Dirty!
The DIRTY dog ran down the street.-
Example: Your dog has gotten rabies! The dog is ____ ...Rabid!
The RABID dog ran down the street.See how that gives you an idea of who the dog is and what is looks like? That is what your first lesson is about! Description!Let's see how descriptive we can be with this sentence. How fast can you run down the street?
What does the street look like?
How old is the dog?
Asking yourself what each word can be described as will help you give it a word that defines it.
The old dog ran slowly down the abandoned street.Let's add MORE:
The old, rabid dog ran awkwardly down the filthy, abandoned street. Now you know that the dog is old, sick, and has trouble running. You also know that it is running along an abandoned area that is trashy and filthy. Before in the beginning, you only knew of a dog running down the street! See the importance of adjectives?
